Cindy Flynn's Alcatraz Race Report:

When I did the Westchester Triathlon last year I didn't know it was a qualifier for Alcatraz. To be quite honest I had never heard of the race. It was my son who informed me that I had qualified by winning my age group. So then I checked out Escape From Alcatraz on the web and thought...NO WAY![Read More...]

Richard Cantor's Alcatraz Race Report:

How can one encapsulate the experience of something which is so unique and so much more than just another triathlon? I can only try by telling my story and hoping it conveys part of the texture, the beauty, and the insanity of this amazing race.[Read More...]

Help ALS with 1 Click!

Dear Friends:

My high school has long been involved in ALS fundraising. Recently, the group began a dinner project called Mid-Winters Night Dream. Working with their advisor, another teacher - Don Strasser, the kids have raised over a million dollars! Quite unbelievable for a group of high schoolers.

They became involved recently in the Chase Bank's contest for favorite charity. Chase is working with Facebook and taking votes. The winning charity will be awarded $100,000. The school already won $25,000 in the preliminary round. We need your help.

Please go to the link above and vote for Midwinters Night Dream. You will be asked to register but it is not a big deal and you will not be hounded with emails from Facebook. Please help us raise enough votes to win this. You can help even more by passing this information on to your families and friends.

Thanks. Chris Pendergast

ONE OF GREENWICH’S FINEST LENDS SUPPORT TO JWT

“Officer Patrone is fighting a courageous battle against an insidious disease,” said Chairman Phil Gormley who watched his own sister Claire struggle, “His strong, spirited presence will be an inspiration for the JWT participants and will continue to bring awareness to ALS.” Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease, which affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. As ALS progresses, the motor neurons connecting the brain to the spinal cord and muscles die. The brain loses its ability to initiate and control muscle movement. Patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. Over 30,000 people throughout the U.S. currently have ALS with over 5,000 new cases diagnosed each year. Officer Patrone was diagnosed with ALS two years ago. He lives in Stamford with his six-year old daughter. He remains on active duty with the Greenwich Police Department and continues to serve and protect his community.
